What do Minerals do?
Minerals are essential for growth, healing, vitality and wellbeing. They provide structural support in your bones and teeth, and they maintain your body's pH and water balance, nerve activity, muscle contractions, energy production and enzyme reactions. They are the basic ‘spark plugs' of the chemistry of life.
What happens if you are lacking minerals ?
Many health conditions are aggravated by mineral imbalances and toxic metal excesses, including cardiovascular disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, migraines, learning difficulties and hyperactivity in children, to name just a few.
Ideally you should get all the minerals you need from a balanced diet. Unfortunately today this is rarely possible. Modern farming techniques, fertilisers and depleted soils reduce the mineral content of foods. Environmental pollutants, chemical food additives and stressful lifestyles also have a detrimental effect on your nutritional status.
Nutrition involves more than eating three meals a day, relying on ‘good’ food, or randomly taking supplements. Vitamins and minerals are essential to good health, but how they function together is essential to our health and wellbeing.
Care is needed as the use of dietary supplements can induce deficiencies, especially when large intakes of single vitamins or minerals are taken. For example large doses of Vitamin C may help alleviate the symptoms of a cold or flu, but it can lower copper in the body making you more susceptible to bacterial infections. Too much calcium (for brittle bones or osteoarthritis) can actually lead to a deficiency of phosphorus and magnesium, contributing to the very condition you are trying to prevent.
Many people are led to believe they are depleted in vitamins, when in reality it is more likely to be minerals. (Typical supplements today contain a variety of minerals and vitamins, and may have ingredients which can actually cancel one another out).

How I determine what you need
By developing a comprehensive analysis from your health history, dietary intake, etc, it reveals minerals specific to your needs. On your first visit facial diagnostic photos are taken along with your case history and concerns. A detailed questionnaire is gone through in detail with you in your first visit and will be analysed before you come for your second consultation. The more detail you provide, the more accurate is your diagnosis. Kinesiology may be utilised to provide specific analysis of your needs.
Facial diagnostics is an accurate method of defining your mineral deficiencies – as changes show clearly in various areas of your face, (see pictures opposite) e.g. colour around the eyes; lips; tongue; types of wrinkles in various areas; etc. Photos are taken on your initial consultation, of your face; one front on and one side on so the inner corner of your eye and your ear are both visible in the same photo; and another photo of your tongue. No makeup or moisturizer please as this alters important definitions and colours of the face.

How do I take tissue salt minerals?
They are easy to take as they dissolve in the mouth and absorbed directly into the blood where they are more effective (they must NOT be swallowed). So no matter the age (infants, children or adults) all can benefit.
How long do tissue salts take to work?
In acute situations - possibly within minutes! (e.g. reducing temperature)
Will I become dependent on tissue salts or supplements?
You cannot become dependent on them;

How long do I have to take them for?
Firstly, they do not have to be 'taken for the rest of your life'; However, it can take weeks or months. In cases of chronic illness or symptoms, it usually takes longer to rebuild and purify the system, (everyone is different), but the more regularly you take them, the better the results.
Can everyone take Tissue Salts?
Diabetics can take the tissue salts, as each tablet is equivalent to only 0.021BU. If you are lactose intolerant or gluten intolerant, this can be a sign of mineral deficiency - they are absorbed via the tissues of the mouth directly into the bloodstream, therefore do not impact on the intestines.
Where do I get Tissue Salts from?
We use only the tried and proven minerals produced in Germany by DHU in accordance with the Dr. Schuessler formulation.

Initial consultation for Mineral Deficiencies or Imbalances:
Allow 1-1.5 hours. A case history is taken and notes recording your concerns. Mineral Therapy is explained and any questions responded to. At this appointment you will have your photograph taken (facial diagnostics so no makeup or moisturiser please). You will also be asked to complete a questionnaire of past and current symptoms.
Allow 1 hour. Results are reviewed and a plan of action regarding supplementation (and diet suggestions) will be outlined and discussed with you at this appointment. If not in stock, the correct supplementation will be ordered for you and you will be kept informed as soon as they are available to be collected and paid for.
3 month Consult/Review:
A further appointment will be made for approximately 3 months time, as your metabolism may take several months to achieve long lasting results. Our bodies have trillions of cells that require minerals to properly function and if deficient or chemically out of balance (and depending on how long that deficiency has been in evidence), may require several months to gain recovery from the symptoms that have been afflicting you.
I am now 64. Since I was in my late 20s, come summer or winter, I would come over very hot with my face and arms in a sweat. It would only last about 2 to 3 minutes.
Over the years, doctors said there was nothing I could do. Therefore it became a way of life. That was until I met Susan ... (April 2013). Susan explained about the balance of minerals. Baby and the Importance of Minerals
Note: No doubt you want the very best for your baby and the very first step is to ensure that YOU are the healthiest you can be. Mother Nature will look after the development of the foetus first, before mum, so if you do not have sufficient mineral resources, then your reserves are literally ‘plundered’. It stands to reason to keep your mineral metabolism in balance. This client benefited from Bowen and Mineral therapy! Here is her story:
I've had Bowen Therapy before, mostly for relaxation and general wellbeing. I decided in May 2013 to try Brilliant Living Solutions due to its location. This Bowen treatment seemed to be more beneficial compared to previous treatment.
My partner and I had been trying to start a family and not knowing if this would take a long time Susan suggested that Hormonal Bowen treatment might help (with ovulation, etc,). Within 3 months I was pregnant and my baby is now due anytime soon (in late May)!!
I also discussed my anxiety, sleeping problems and fluid retention with Susan, who explained the benefits of mineral therapy with me that would not only benefit me, but the health of my baby. I decided to give it a go as I’m always striving to eliminate my anxiety.

Stress and sleep disorder
I tried Bowen with Susan, for the first time in Jan 2012 as I had suffered from severely aching legs and sciatica since about the age of 11. After many tests and NO results, the doctors seemed to conclude it was 'all in my head" - in other words they were unable to help.
My legs had always been a problem and having a car accident at about 13 didn't help (ran over my legs). The pain was constant and the only way I could sleep at night was to put my legs up against the wall for 30-40 mins, which would provide some relief (allowing about an hour's sleep), before I would have to go through the routine again. Not much sleep for years really.
Bowen helped to some degree (certainly with the sciatica), but it wasn’t until Susan put me onto minerals in January 2013 that I noticed a marked improvement. It was slow at first and she assured me that if I stuck with it, it should help improve my aching legs and therefore my ability to sleep. Since taking the minerals I've noticed improvement in things I didn’t expect. My eczema improved and I no longer bite my nails.
More importantly, as the muscle pain receded my sleeping improved. Within twelve months I was sleeping at least 7-8 hours a night. I no longer had to put my legs up against the wall and pain medication is now seldom required. I can leave off the minerals for longer periods, so I can now see the future being consistently pain free, with quality sleep. The minerals will always be there if needed, but I will no longer be reliant on them like I have been on the drugs.

Her voice is stronger and more ‘determined’, as is her manner, which was highly likely due to long term sleep deprivation.

Note: The combination of Bowen & Minerals complements each other superbly as this client (below) was mineral deficient as well as having developed negative muscle 'patterning'. Minerals are subtle in their biochemistry on the body, synergistically supporting the Bowen treatments. She is now choosing to return for a 'maintenance' type treatment every couple of months. I have lived with chronic pain for more than 10 years. The pain was worst at night, limiting my ability to sleep. I have tried the medical profession, who investigated for “nasties”, and finding nothing just gave me drugs to help deaden the pain and knock me out. I tried physiotherapy, chiropractic, osteopathy, acupuncture, Pilates, Tai Chi, swimming and gym. Some of these things reduced the problem for a short time, but then it came back. Some helped me cope; but still gradually it was getting worse. I was unable to sleep on my back, or on my left side at all, and could manage half an hour on my right side and a little longer on my stomach. I was getting spasms when I walked, and gradually my function was deteriorating and the future was looking pretty grim.
I hadn't tried Bowen Therapy or Tissue salts. Susan did a thorough assessment and started me on tissue salts. Nothing dramatic, so we decided to try the Bowen as well, as the body was so locked in bad patterns and dysfunctional muscle spasms, that it needed more help to release itself. I had 9 treatments over 5 months. Each session Susan would listen intently and attempt to understand every little ache and pain I described. She would try moves that she thought would help, and if she didn't know she went to no end of trouble to try and find out what might be causing the pain and (develop) strategies to work on it. Gradually over the weeks the muscles relaxed and the body began to right itself. Like pealing the layers of an onion, she worked through each issue as it presented and released the muscles and thereby the pain. I was able to sleep on my left side again for the first time in 5 years. I have even managed to sleep for 8 hours in one go, although not consistently. I no longer take the non-steroidal anti-inflammatories or the heavy duty pain medication the Dr had prescribed. My posture has improved and I can walk without spasms. I am not totally pain free, but my quality of life is so much improved I am eternally grateful, as it is only these things (minerals & Bowen) that have managed to sustain an improvement for more than a few weeks.
